Metal Detector Essentials On The Hunt
When you are on “the hunt,” you don’t want anything to get in the way of finding that treasure. The passionate metal detector knows often putting in the long hours and being patient pays off. Often it is where you least expect it that you find that lovely and elusive treasure you are seeking. And what a wonderful treasure it is! Our essentials make metal detecting easier and far more successful for you. Find that treasure and leave the other treasure seekers in the dust!
To find that treasure you need what we like to call our metal detector essentials while you are out on “the hunt.” One of our top secrets is that we won’t let anything get in our way because we won’t be distracted by outer concerns. So you need to take care of as many of these outer concerns as possible to ensure your successful at finding your gold. Here are some of our favorites:
Water bottle. This sounds very practical and basic because it is. Being out in the hot sun all day is going to make any detector very thirsty. Or dehydrated even if they don’t feel thirsty they will experience all of the symptoms and be uncomfortable. Better to take care of your hydration than to be slowed down by it. We recommend carrying the largest water bottle you can find so you’ve got plenty of H2O on you at all times.
Sunscreen/Sunblock. This is another important essential that many metal detectors don’t like to think about. Now maybe you do apply some before you leave the house with your gear. But if you’re out there for 8 hours at a stretch, the sunscreen is going to wear off in no time. Carry a small bottle of it in a fanny pack or bag so you can reapply. A nasty sunburn will make you feel ill and worse – put you off metal detecting and treasure hunting for a while.
Protein bars and/or fruit. A snack is an excellent thing to keep with you at all times. Most of the places you can take your metal detector are not located near food. Having something quick, healthy and convenient to eat means you don’t have to stop if your stomach starts rumbling. You can stay on “the hunt” that much longer. This trick alone can save you hours in travel time and put you farther ahead of other metal detectors in the field. We recommend easy things like protein bars or fruit. Give you quick energy and protein to keep you moving.
A cell phone. With a cell phone it’s tricky. We actually suggest you turn your ringer off so you won’t be disturbed while you metal detect. Focus fully on the task at hand and enjoy treasure hunting. But keep the cell phone on you so you can return calls, check in with the office or home and have contact if there is any emergency or concern. A cell phone is a top practical essential in our book for any successful metal detectors today.
