Hunting Tree Stands

does anyone do any of the more european style hunting in the US?

I am talking about the walking through the fields style hunting vs the sitting in a tree stand hunting we do in the US. I have only done the latter. Anyone have experience with this? how do you do it effectively?

We do a lot of walking and hiking. Not all of use use stands or stay in one place the whole time.

Thing is its not always feilds. Where I go you have to hike a couple hours over extremely rough terrain with a bunch of gear.
