is it legal to have a Swiss Army knife in you car, in San Diego, California?

i bought a Swiss Army knife while i was in Switzerland for vacation. now, i have frequently used it during fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. usually i never have it on me unless its been specifically packed into my gear for these types of situations. however, i have also found myself in UNplanned situations where having it would have been very convenient, only i DIDNT have it on me.

so i was wondering if it is legally ok to have it in my car for the off chance ill need it.

ive been looking up local knife laws and length restrictions and its all very confusing. i also would like an answer that specifically deals with Swiss Army knives and not other types of knives.

Keep the knife in the trunk and you will not have problems. I suggest putting it in an emergency kit.
