WoW Hunter Should use Chain Mail?

I Have Just Leveled my Blood Elf Hunter to 40 and Have a lot of Chain mail armor i got from MS. last night when i put it on over Damage my leather gear jump up my form today 100-124 to 108-134 But it Went down to 98-134. What Happened first of all and second Should I use the chain mail on my hunter gear?

AS a level 80 B Elf hunter, yes you Should use it, it is all about dps for a hunter and leather you Would die to Easily, But There Are always exceptions like when to use cloth to pally heals for when to have a party, it all depends on bonuses and stats
